Ep.72: Bringing a Hospitality Mindset to Multifamily, with Vadim Kleyner

Play episode

Lance is the Founder and Managing Partner of Verivest, an end-to-end real estate investment platform designed to bring transparency and trust to middle-market investing, and a Principal in Fairway America, a real estate private equity firm in Portland, Oregon.

Vadim Kleyner of Smartland started his career in IT and then put those skills to use in real estate. Starting the purchase of 100 off-market homes in 2008, Vadim and his team built a vertically-integrated multifamily investment company stretching from Ohio to Florida. He and Lance discuss Smartland’s laser focuses: property management and tenant happiness. If vacancy is the killer, then creating a culture tenants don’t want to leave is job one. Vadim shares his approach to providing “practical”, modern amenities, like EV stations and dog playgrounds. This hospitality-inspired strategy is something multifamily investors need to cultivate.
